This coffee is cultivated by over 500 local farmers at elevations ranging from 1950 to 2050 meters, producing beans with exceptional characteristics. The distinct flavour profile is attributed to heirloom varietals such as Wolisho, Kurume, Dega, and JARC 74110/74112. At the Chelichele Station, under the meticulous supervision of Station Manager Ali Yasin, the natural fermentation process involves drying coffee cherries on African beds—three days in the shade followed by nineteen days in the sun. The small, dense beans from this high-altitude region contribute to a complex and robust flavour profile.
