Baroida Estate is located in Papua New Guinea’s Eastern Highlands, in the Kainantu District. Founded in the 1960s by Ben Colbran, one of the first to grow coffee in the region, the estate is now run by his son, Nichol. Sitting at 1,700–1,850 meters, Baroida benefits from rich volcanic soil and ideal altitude. Its name comes from a local spirit believed to dwell in an unmovable river rock on the property. Surrounded by former colonial estates and smallholder farms, Baroida is a cornerstone of the region’s coffee production, with a legacy rooted in both tradition and resilience.
